Voices of Desire is the story of a strange and bizarre interlude in the life of a young girl and her bacchanalian seduction by the spirits of lust.
Anna Reade is a young single girl living in New York. She works as a secretary for a popular fashion magazine. One day, after deciding to take the afternoon off to go shopping, she receives a mysterious telephone call in which she hears a voice hypnotically calling her name. Frightened and confused, she decides to go instead to the safety of her home. However, while resting peacefully in her bedroom she again hears the mysterious voices which this time take complete possession of her mind and body. Under their influence Anna is driven into a frenzy of erotic pleasures and fantasies.
The next day Anna decides to get away and visit a friend in the country but as she leaves her apartment the Voices of Desire once again call her. Again they take possession and control of her mind and body. The voices overcome

her will to resist and hypnotically call her to come and join them.
Anna is led on a voyage through the city in quest of the spirits of lust which have summoned her. She is drawn to a spooky house where she is held captive while the spirits take possession of the body and perform endless variations of sensual pleasures upon her. After a long series of erotic experiences at the hands of the spirits, Anna escapes from her captivity.
Anna reports her strange experiences to a disbelieving Chief of Detectives in New York City. After being told that her story cannot be true, Anna feels alone, abandoned and that reality is not worth facing. She decides to end it all by throwing herself off the Brooklyn Bridge. Just as she is about to jump, the Voices of Desire begin anew to call Anna and hypnotically take possession of her mind and body. She joyfully responds to the call and runs to rejoin the spirits, to remain forever in their embrace. Anna has now found happiness as she becomes reunited with the beautiful spirits.
