Valerie, a 20 year-old girl quiets her restless desires by seeking the attention of young men beyond the walls of the convent where she lives. Caught and castigated by the nuns, she decides to flee the rigid confines of convent life, and leaves there in unorthodox fashion, on the back of a motorcycle driven by a male friend. On reaching the city, she leaves him, and winds up as a topless dancer in a club. Strolling in the park on her day off from the club, Valerie meets Patrick, a painter, and Francois, his young son.

At the same time Valerie meets Kim, another dancer, who persuades her to enter into prostitution as a means of acquiring the financial freedom she desires. In her spare time, Valerie sees much of Patrick, but when he starts making plans for their future, she runs away, fearful he might discover her new profession. Seeking her, Patrick does learn of her way of life, and is keenly disappointed. After a revolting experience with an old lecher, Valerie strolls through the park where she first met Patrick. He notices her, dashes after her, and they find each other again.
