Together
1975 Marilyn Chambers
Together is the first total sex film to be accepted by conventional movie audiences without embarrassment and to play sophisticated shopping-center theatres with unprecedented success and minima] reaction from law enforcement officials. Together may well be described as the first "wholesome" sex film of its genre. Credit for the acceptance of Together by the general public - the same audience that went to see LOVE STORY and SUMMER of 42 - must be given to 29- year old producer- director Sean Cunningham who has avoided the pitfalls of the "porno" filmmakers by refusing to emphasize or otherwise comment on the bizarre side of sexual practices. Together is not a "position" picture or a "how - to - do - it pseudo documentary that is generally little more than an excuse to show a great deal of nudity or explore irrelevant sexual fantasies. Together is concerned with human beings, not objects.

Thru American International Pictures Reviews "I wish every engaged and married couple could see that film. I believe the film was done with sensitivity to the whole area of sex in marriage. Every topic I discuss in my pre-marital discussions was portrayed beautifully in the film." - Foster Memorial Congregational Church, Rev. David J. Dean, Springfield, Mass. "...done in what is meant to be a lyrical, gentle, peaceful style. The outlook the movie expresses is almost nauseatingly wholesome.., it calls for personal exarni -nation, an honest attempt to face one's own sexuality, moral and social standards." - Portland Oregonian "No question about Together being a controversial film. There will be those who will damn the film while others will venture forth with some kind comment." -Springfield, Mass. Union. "The sex scenes in this picture are used in good taste to reinforce the theme. The film is idealistic, perhaps, for it tries to say that two people should reach perfect communication.., an almost impossible goal. Nevertheless, the film's optimistic and informative approach makes the goal seem attainable. Perhaps if the movie were rated R people would be less shocked." - Portland, Maine Press-Herald Click here for more
