The King
1970
|
"THE KING" is a euphemism for a menage-a-trois of young girls in an apartment dominated by a Lesbian "butch" called "THE KING". The power held over these girls is ably demonstrated by "THE KING" as she causes them to submit to unspeakable humilities in order to vie for "THE KING'S" affections. We see the rivalry emerge into an erupting passionate volcano of desire as the trio spend a week-end at a resort known as Cherry Grove. The inner seethings of Carol are graphically portrayed as she attempts to outstrip her rival, Lisa, for the love and kisses of "THE KING". This dramatization of the bottomless pit of lonliness that confronts a beautiful girl in the heart of a big city is poignantly pictured in a frank and sympathetic manner. Starved emotions and frustrated desires come to a climax as this fi~m comes to its rapidly paced conclusion. "THE KING" is daring in its shocking approach to a subject that has long been hidden from the rules of conventional society. This picture will shock its viewers into a better acceptance and understanding about one of today's major social problems. "THE KING" begins where other pictures end. RUNNING TIME: 60 MINUTES CAST
