The Friendly Neighbors
Very Friendly Neighbors
1971
It is said that a picture is worth 1000 words. In the "Very Friendly Neighbors," you see it, they don't talk about it. Albert Zugsmith, the creator of this motion picture, causes his actors and actresses to give such realistic portrayals that the audience feels they are attending a wife-swap commune. stories ends as follows . . . "so each husband had two wives and each wife had two husbands." A Hollywood starlet, bored by the monotony of a budget marriage, and the sameness of making love to one man, becomes interested in the newly married couple next door. The two couples try the experiment of swapping wives. The starlet and her playboy husband dig the excitement of the action. The other couple, remorseful, vow never to stray again. The playboy's boss, meanwhile, has been seducing a virgin by the use of hypnosis, but falls in love with the ex-virgin and marries her. Both couples swap wives. They have a ball. They decide to try a communal marriage, all living together under one roof. But it proves as monotonous to the starlet as being married to one man and she leaves, breaking up the communal arrangement.
