The Fast Set
1965
Sophie Durville (AGNES LAURENT), the pretty older daughter of a wealthy family goes on a hunger strike in order to get her father's permission to study art in Paris. Her father finally consents and arrangements are made for her to stay with her aunt. The real reason for Sophie's wanting to go to Paris is that she has fallen in love with a young medical student, Jack Bersand (PHILIPPE NICAUD). Jack and his friends meet Sophie at the station and take her on a tour of the city winding up at the bohemian night club which is the favorite haunt of the students and which features "rock and roll" and striptease as its main attractions. What follows are a series of mad-cap adventures which introduce the timid and provincial Sophie to the fast and uninhibited life led by Jack and his friends. One night, Sophie accidentally discovers Jack with his former girlfriend, Rita (DORA DOLL), at a wild, undressed party in the nurses quarters of the hospital. Later that night, in

a fit of drunken anger, she gets up on the stage of the night club and, herself, does a striptease. Photographs are taken and an attempt is made to blackmail her aunt. Jack, who is really in love with Sophie, stops the striptease and he and his friends steal an ambulance to chase after the blackmailer and carry him off in a straight-jacket before he can show the photographs to her aunt. Sophie and Jack are reconciled and the story ends with their getting married to the happy accompaniment of the "rock and roll" music.
