Swinging Cheerleaders
1976 Jo Jo Johnston
The Swinging Cheerleaders Kate Cory (Jo Johnston), an attractive journalism student at Mesa State University, decides to write an exposé of "the most demeaning activity on campus - Cheerleading" - for her final journalism paper. Ron (tan Sanders), her boyfriend, agrees to publish it in the Mesa Free Press, an underground newspaper which he edits. Kate tries out for, and makes the team, much to the chagrin of Mary Anne Putnam, head of the cheerleading squad and daughter of Putnam (George Wallace), a successful local businessman arid president of Mesa's Alumni Association. Mary Anne tears that Kate will be competition for Buck Larsen (Ron Halleck), her boyfriend and star quarterback of the team. Mary Anne's fears are justified; Kate and Buck begin an affair, Kate breaks up with Ron, and decides not to write her paper. The other cheerleaders are not idle during all this activity- Lisa (Rosanne Katon), an extremely attractive black student, is having a wild affair with Frank Thorpe, a young Professor of Statistics. At the end

of each class, Lisa is usually able to convince Frank to experiment with a new kind of permutation, and they retire to his office to experiment. Andrea (Rainbeaux Smith), a voluptuous blond virgin and fourth member of the squad, is continually trying to get up the nerve to make love with her boyfriend Ross (Ric Carrot), number two man on the Varsity Squad. Deciding that her first taste of love should be with a perfect stranger, she asks Ron to help with her problem, and an hilarious seduction follows, ending when Ron invites his friends over to "gang-bang a cheerleader." Ross learns of the evil deed the morning after, and beats Ron to a bloody pulp. Meanwhile, Kate discovers that Putnam and Coach Turner (Jack Denton), are manipulating the point-spread on the games, placing bets through Professor Thorpe, who is familiar with the bookies in the black parts of town. Turner and Putnam decide to make a killing on the final game of the season by betting the entire Alumni Treasury that Mesa will lose, and are forced to let Buck in on the fix. When he refuses, Putnam arranges to have Buck kidnapped by the University Police, and taken to a warehouse on the outskirts of town. Kate witnesses the kidnapping. and alerts Ross, Lisa, and Andrea, who round up other members of the team. Thorpe has decided that the violence has gone too far, and joins the group, suggesting where Buck might have been taken. Thorpe, Ross, Lisa, and Kate are the first to arrive, and a gigantic fight ensues, with half of the football team arriving a few minutes later. Thorpe is wounded in the struggle, and his assailant is crushed by a heavy filing cabinet. Lisa takes the wounded Thorpe to the hospital, while Buck and Ross arrive back at the stadium in time to help put Mesa back into the game, while Mary Anne, informed of her father's misdeeds, bravely cheers the team to victory!
