Student Teachers
Production Notes for "The Student Teachers" Jonathan Kaplan, director of the new film "The Student Teachers," was expelled from high school recently at the age of twenty-five. Mr. Kaplan tells his story this way, "To research the picture I decided to go back to high school. It was a public school in the city and was so overcrowded, I was there off and on for almost three weeks and nobody noticed. The kids noticed, some of them, but no one else. There were sixty students in rooms that held thirty. Most of them have contempt for high school. One student took me to his locker and showed me his weapon collection. I once spent an hour and a half in the principal's office 'cause I was two minutes late to class. There were so many of us there they didn't even ask our names. We waited 89 minutes, then the assistant principal came out, gave us a thirty second spiel on promptness, and sent us on to the next class. "Two days

later I got caught. They said they could have me arrested but settled on seeing my picture when it was finished. I had an 'A' average but if they see my film, I'll probably fail." Aside from being the most stunning young actress in Hollywood, Brooke Mills is perhaps the most talented. She expertly plays the starring role in the new movie comedy "The Student Teachers". Born in St. Joseph, Missouri, she has been featured in over twenty top television shows including "Mod Squad," "The F.B.I.," "Mission Impossible," and several Movies of the Week. An accomplished pro at the age of twenty-five; she was a regular on the popular daytime series, "Love Is A Many Splendored Thing." She started her theatrical career at the age of four and when seven years old, danced and sang in a floor show in Kansas City and St. Louis, Missouri. She then attended ballet' school - and became a prima ballerina at the age of sixteen. Following a diverse career she then sang in operas such as "Amalia And The Night Visitor." In the space of a few years David Merrick put her under contract for "Hello Dolly"; she attracted attention in an Elvis Presley picture, and Roger Corman signed her for the lead in the highly successful "Big Doll House." Philadelphia critic Michael Wakely wrote about her performance, "far and away the standout role is that of Harrad - played to perfection by Brooke Mills. Her characterization dominates the screen with its subtlety and power." Brooke Mills' fast rising career is a real life Hollywood success story.
