Sex Machine Study
Flanders and Alcott Report
1969 Flanders and Alcott
An in-depth study that lays bare the naked truth of today's "modern sexual research laboratory"
Beautiful, young Doctor Phyllis Alcott, a research assistant at the Flanders Research Laboratories, iS followed through her exciting medical career, as she struggles to help Dr. Leon Flanders develop his controversial "Love Lab", recording the human sexual response of hundreds of male and female volunteers over a five year period.
This is an adult sex education documentary based on the true facts of the private and mysterious world of the men and women involved in sex research, as conducted for the past ten years by famous teams such as Masters and Johnson.
The film follows six Case Histories, just a few of the 694 men and women chosen to engage in sexual acts in a laboratory under scientific observation to measure and record the anatomical and emotional effects of sexual behavior . . . . the boldest study in human history.
In explicit details and in a laymen's language, this exciting film reports to the theatre-going public this
monumental research project's impact on psychiatry, its practical application in marriage counseling and sex education, and its cultural significance.
Since the moral redeeming features of sex "enlightenment", designed to further marital sex compatibility, is obviously the message of this film, we interweave a story-line involving the following characters, known to the sex researchers as the "troubled ones":
CASE NO. 1
Angela Justin: 24 years old, a beautiful redhead, a top nude model, but frustrated wife "Grant is unable to arouse me sexually. I love him but somehow it never works out. After he's through, I suffer . . . . or masturbate. Then I hate myself. Why can't I enjoy intercourse like other women?"
Grant Justin: 28 years old, a former football player; now a stock- broker. Very much disturbed by his wife's unhappiness.
CASE NO. 2
Ruth Fowler: 18 years old, a lovely young bride of only six weeks. "Sexual intercourse has been terribly painful physically. I die a thousand deaths every time Jerry enters me." (A condition known as dyspareunia.)
Jerry Fowler: 22 years old, a nice Jewish boy, heavily endowed, and a little awkward in his approach to sex.
CASE NO. 3
Gary Stroll: 27 years old, perfectly healthy in all respects, save one . . . . "It's been practically impossible for me to get an erection, and when I finally do, I pop off the minute I'm inside . . . . and, man, for a bachelor . . . . that's bad!"
CASE NO. 4
Cassy Wilson: 26 years old, a voluptuous prostitute, one of 120
whores who contributed their sexual and professional histories to the project "It's simple, I can use the bread."
CASE NO. 5
Annette Drexel: 30 years old, an attractive executive secretary, married for the second time "During my first marriage, I always seemed to have six, eight, or even a dozen orgasms in rapid succession during a single sexual encounter; sometimes two or three such series might follow one another in the course of an evening of lovemaking. In my present marriage, however, all this is lacking. At best I experience a single orgasm over a long period that leaves me still restless and dissatisfied. What has gone wrong?"
Joe Drexel: Annette's naive husband of 35, who never really grew up sexually.
