Relations
1970 Gertie Jung
Relations ... The Love Story From Denmark Pegel, (Bjorn Puggard Muller) a successful middle-aged businessman, has a very unsuccessful sexual Relationship with his attractive wife. One rainy night, Pegel is involved in an auto accident with some hippies and a young girl steps into his car and saves him from the awkward situation. The next day, the girl Sonya (Gertie Jung) comes to his home under the pretext of returning his cigarette lighter and ends up seducing him. "Papa", as Sonya calls him, finds in her a sexual Relationship that surpasses his wildest imagination. A great deal of his excitement is generated by Sonya claiming to be only sixteen years of age. (We never know Sonya's real age, since she lies to Papa religiously.) Before long, Sonya is "borrowing" money from Papa. In placing kroner into Sonya's wallet, Papa discovers she is posing for pornographic pictures with a young man, Egon, (Paul Glargard). Papa suffers the pangs of both jealousy and outrage and a violent argument ensues! He offers her

considerably more money if she will give up posing and never see Egon again. She promises, and their Relationship continues, to the detriment of his business and health. Papa, while thoroughly hooked on Sonya, does not trust her. When she breaks a date, he follows her and sees her go straight to Egon's room. Goaded by jealousy, Papa climbs a fire escape across the alley in order to spy upon Sonya and Egon. He is so engrossed in watching their bizarre lovemaking, he is unaware that neighbors have spotted him. A vigilante mob beat him up and tear open his fly. The police arrest him and Papa is charged with "indecent exposure" and being a "Peeping Tom". Despite this calamity, Papa, now a more compassionate human being, seeks out Sonya and they meet with Egon. For additional money, Egon agrees to allow Papa to continue seeing Sonya. Papa, after a tender love scene with Sonya, tells her he isn't sure he can continue their Relationship. He doesn't believe her promises to give up Egon. Papa drops Sonya off on a street corner and drives home to find his wife as indifferent to his needs as ever. The story ends with Papa alone in his bed looking reflectively at the lighter Sonya had returned.
