Private Relations
1965 Carla Erikson
Teaser Storyline for Private Relations
Earl Dudley (Don Canfield) is an impoverished, struggling young man in the Public Relations field. For the last three years he has lived from hand to mouth aided by his society girl-friend, Wilhelmena (Willi) Trublood (Carla Erikson). His only assets are a centrally located office and a patient, hard-working secretary, Cynthia (Elizabeth Easter). Through Cynthia's conniving a wealthy Texan entrepeneur is brought to the firm representing a hill-billy singer known as "Corny" Wilson (Biff Williams). The Texan, Romney Elrod (Joe Kugel) is a loud-mouthed little bantam with a big bankroll and a naive streak. Cynthia and Earl both hope that he will bring enough financial backing into the firm to take it out of the red. They therefore set out to entertain the client and his protege by showing them the big city, taking along Willi and Katie Mallory (Anne Brent) an aspiring actress. To do this Cyn hocks her fur coat and the sextet spend a night on the town. Earl has inherited a house

from his late uncle Horace and his lawyer has agreed to let him spend weekends in it until the title is clear so the three girls and Earl hatch a plot. With the assistance of an avid pornographer, Irv Stone (Stanley McEvoy) they have three automatic cameras set up with infra-red lights to film after-dark activities at the old homestead on Long Island. First Earl sends the young singer and Katie down in hopes of getting some embarrassing shots to force Elrod to sign an exclusive contract with him. When the films are developed much nudity is seen on the part of Katie but young Corney doesn't step out of line once (at least not for the camera). So Willi decides Earl should take her along with Elrod for the following weekend as the Texan obviously enjoys strippers and sex-shows and seems a bit of a lecher. Once back at the old house Katie rebels. She has fallen in love with Corny (who is extremely strait-laced) and refuses to seduce Elrod for the cameras for fear she will be exposed. Earl threatens to give away her part in the preceding weekend's plot unless she goes through with her agreement. He forces her to strip then and there and steal up to the visitor's room. To Earl's astonishment the next day when the films are shown his long-time fiancee is also included in the orgy that is depicted. Elrod is furious that anyone would stoop so low as to try to blackmail him in such a despicable fashion. Earl and the two girls are left alone while the Texan packs but can think of no way to recoup their reputations and their former friendship with their client. Steaming down the stairs Romney Elrod pauses long enough to bid them goodbye and asks Willi to run a short 8mm film he produces from his luggage. To everyone's surprise it is a stag sort of film with Elrod as the leading player and a sexy cutie giving him the business. He explains that for years he has brought home this type of film to his frigid wife, Elly Mae (Laura Kreyn) so that she might become suitably responsive to his advances. They are flabbergasted when he reveals that instead of being shocked at seeing such things she will be delighted if they send the film they have made (which they have threatened to do as a form of blackmail). A long-distance call from the city for Katie tells her that she and Corny have just been seen in the pornographer's office on film and that the Club Mogador owner wants to hire them as a team ...
