Night Women
1970
Night Women was directed by the same man who directed the 1966 Cannes Film Festival grand prize winner, "A Man and A Woman", now enjoying national box office success. It is unique in its approach toward seeking out the inner workings of the female mind. Why does one young girl stand naked in front of a crowd of gaping onlookers while another - a housewife with a family - sells her body in the afternoon for petty cash for her household. "How much?" she is asked. "If it's in the car, 20 Francs, or about $5.00. This same young housewife when asked, "aren't you ashamed of what you're doing?", replied, "No, I enjoy it." Night Women follows closely on the heels of two highly successful documentary films, "Mondo Freudo" and "Mondo Bizarro". It must, however, not be confused with either. Unlike its predecessors, Night Women was made entirely in Europe and contains all of the sex, sin and sensuality that those audiences as well as ours have grown to love. The

well used slogan, "something for everybody", will certainly apply here. There is plenty of nudity, surrounded by an aura of sensual adventure that is easily achieved when the audience realizes that what they are watching was photographed as it actually happened. The emotions range from comedy to sadism. In Rome we see the selection of "Miss Spaghetti" and in Paris a woman has her nose rebuilt. In Brussels a group of male transvestites try to explain positions on sex while in Frankfurt, Germany, the many strip tease houses receive unique documentation, unlike anything that has gone before. One of the high points of the film shows the birth of a baby, revealed in such detail and clarity which will cause comment and word of mouth curiosity unlike any film since "Mom and Dad". Depending on your theater, you may wish to try the special letter ad located on the back page, segregating your audiences. This ad can be reworded to suit your individual needs such as, "Men only will be admitted to this run of Night Women", or admit women only to specific performances and men only to all the rest. Business may drop off sharply during the "only women" performances; the male curiosity may well make up for the loss in revenue.
