inheritance and his friend's poker winnings in the stock market and makes substantial gains. Then, through clever maneuvering, Jan begins to buy seemingly worthless property in the slum section of the city at ridiculously low prices. Later, by using the press, Jan makes slum clearance a hot political issue and sells bock those very same properties at considerable profits.

Again the couple sail to the island hideaway, but this time Jan has prepared himself by reading several treatises on the art of love-making. Jan makes complete overtures to Margareta and they spend an idyllic night together, each experiencing sex for the first time. Further meetings follow and Margareta knows now that she is in love with Jan and must break her engagement to Rolf.

When Margareta tells of her idyllic tryst and announces to her parents that she wants to break her engagement to Rolf and marry Jan, her father goes after Jan with a whip. Warned by Margareta, Jan, brandishing an ancient pirate pistol, meets the admiral in the hail of his apartment house. Being an avid gun collector, the admiral completely forgets his mission when he sees the pistol. Jan knowing the admiral does not know who he is, seizes the opportunity to ingratiate himself. After wining and dining the old man, the stage is set to trigger the final comedy twists of the romantic story of Margareta and Jan.
