Amorous Headmaster
Teaser Storyline for "The Amorous Headmaster" Karl Burelefoot is a romantic and an idealist. Although a business student, he has ambitions to be a concert pianist. But a weakness for beautiful women keeps distracting him from his studies. To help pay for his education, he accepts a job as headmaster of a small school. He takes his piano along with him. But after he meets Gunhild, there is little time for practice. She is an earthy blonde with no taste for classical music. She would rather Karl play with her than his piano. Karl needs little persuading. Soon she is visiting him every night. When Gunhild's interests turn toward marriage, however, Karl promptly seeks escape. He finds it in the arms of Liv, a mature and elegant divorcee. Wise and experienced in the ways of love, she believes that "nothing is obscene between people who love each other." She introduces her young lover to new peaks of sensual experience. Before long, both Karl's mistresses are pregnant. Liv makes no demands, but

Gunhild holds out for marriage. With the aid of her brother she forces Karl to agree to a wedding date. But at the last moment he packs up his piano and flees to Oslo. Fresh from the unfortunate consequences of his affairs, Karl decides to devote himself to his school work and his music. But beautiful young women keep interfering with his studies. First there is Molly, who finds no pleasure in making love. Karl seduces her as a challenge, but abandons her for more enthusiastic partners. Constance is a virgin, but eager, and Wilhelmine is an uninhibited young lady who enjoys making love outside in the apple trees. Karl manages to find space for both in his crowded schedule. His friends warn him that he cannot burn the candle at both ends and the middle too. But Karl can find no focus for his life. Then he meets Embla. She is a beautiful, self-possessed, independent woman. Karl ends all his other affairs to devote himself to her. But she is a difficult conquest. Finally, after a summer in Paris and a successful concert debut, he is able to secure her love-in exchange for an offer of marriage. About the film Denmark's famous woman director, Annelise Meineche, whose sensational film "Seventeen," took London by storm, has made another daringly explicit film with "THE Amorous Headmaster," in which her former stars, Ole Soltoft and Ghita Norby, again feature. The film is based on two of the world's best sellers, "Lasso Around The Moon" and "The Song Of The Red Ruby" by the famous Norwegian novelist, Agnar Mykle: books which created a furor when first published and which, in some countries-including Denmark-were damned and banned because of their outrageous frankness. Although the film contains many frank and bold love scenes, these are acted with such complete unselfconsciousness that they never offend, for Annelise Meineche tells the story of "THE Amorous Headmaster" with great skill and with humour.
