After the Ball Was Over
1969
When Evelyn inherits a small fortune and a thriving business from her father, she becomes a playgirl. During the endless rounds of parties and jet setting, she meets and marries a suave, wheeler-dealer named Robert Lloyd. Everything with Robert is fun and games, a ball-until Robert begins ignoring her. Evelyn becomes more and more nervous and frustrated as the months drag on. Finally Robert introduces her to a psychiatrist friend of his named Dr. McCann. The doctor recommends immediate therapy for Evelyn. Shortly after Evelyn begins seeing the doctor, Robert brings home another couple for a small dinner party. After dinner they sit in the living room drinking and talking. The conversation soon turns to sex and Robert sits on the sofa with his friend's wife and begins making advances which she returns. Evelyn is annoyed but moments later when Kenneth begins making passes at her she is horrified. Before she can escape from the scene, Robert gets up from the sofa and tells her to relax and enjoy herself. He proceeds

to show some pornographic films and Evelyn is appalled. She is afraid to make a scene but as the film progresses, Kenneth caresses her more and more intimately. When she can stand it no longer, she runs to her bedroom. A few moments later however, Kenneth comes to her room and rapes her. During the frantic intercourse, Evelyn thinks that she sees her chauffeur sneak into the room and snap pictures of her humiliation. When she repeats the incident to Dr. McCann, he tells her that he will speak to her husband and gives her what he tells her are tranquilizers. She takes two of the pills at home and discovers that they are hallucinogenic drugs. Slipping in and out of reality, Evelyn is again subjected to sexual abuse, this time by her maid. Again the pattern repeats itself when she sees her chauffeur come into her room to take pictures of the incident. When she returns to the psychiatrist the next day to tell him the story, he gives her a powerful drug injection and promptly molests her. Evelyn feels that she is losing her mind. Nothing seems normal or real to her. Finally, after Robert forces her to take more of the so-called tranquilizers, she is tormented and driven half mad by a series of freaks and strange apparitions. Afterwards, as she recovers, Evelyn overhears her husband plotting to drive her completely insane and take over her fortune. Furious, Evelyn tricks Robert into downing a drink which she drugs with the 'tranquilizers.' As he lies helpless on their bed. Evelyn smothers him with a pillow.
