Yog, Monster from Space
1970 Akira Kubo
Teaser Storyline for Yog Monster from Space An unmanned rocket probe aimed at Jupiter is invaded by an evil, intelligent but invisible force in the far reaches of space and re-directed back to earth, landing near a small island south of Japan. Unaware of the menace, a party including Taro Kudo (AKIRA KUBO), a photographer, Ayako Hoshino, a girl reporter (ATSUKO TAKAHASHI), and Makoto Obata, an industrial spy (KENJI SAHARA) are inspecting the island for the purpose of possible development as a tourist attraction. The group is shocked when attacked by an enormous octopus, fully thirty feet long. They manage to repulse the monster with fire but their encampment is subjected to continuous assault by other monsters including a giant crab and a gigantic turtle, common sea and coastal dwellers that have been transformed into bizarre killers by the space intruders which have permeated their cells and taken control of their bodies. Kudo deduces this when he finds the abandoned rocket during an undersea search for the lair of the

octopus. Oppressed by the attack of the beasts, the party finds that its weapons have no effect on the behemoths and conceal themselves in the jungle until they learn that the beasts are strangely affected by the high pierced sounds of bats which live in nearby caves. They take refuge in the caves but the onset of the invisible force soon adds new danger when it penetrates the body of Obata, twisting him to its will and inducing him to set fires in the caves to kill the bats. Attempting to counter the insidious force, Ayako pleads with him to remember that he is human and must help them in their struggle. She succeeds and the bats are freed to harass the monsters into fighting against each other. In a final, earth shaking struggle, the great giants finally tumble into the crater of a volcano and are consumed by the boiling lava. Now completely contrite and tortured by his struggle against the space force, Obata hurls himself into the volcano with the monsters and the humans are saved from destrucition.
