This movie is based on John Far's popular novel 'THE FURY'. Producer Frank Yablans brings to the screen a bold and challenging entertainment, startling as tomorrow's headlines. Kirk Douglas, John Cassavetes, Carrie Snodgress, Charles Durning and Amy Irving star in "THE FURY," directed by Brian De Palma. It is a timely and dramatic film as riveting as recent newspaper stories about the detention of an American urnalist in Moscow because of articles he is doing on parapsychology and mind control. "THE FURY" focuses on Kirk Douglas as a man who is trying to rescue his teenage son, possessed of psychic powers, from a super-secret U.S. government agency which is using him. Because he himself once worked for that agency, Douglas has a considerable knowledge of ifs inner workings, which makes it all the more urgent for him to be silenced. A meeting with a young psychic girl about his son's age, who is also being manipulated by the agency, helps precipitate the final confrontation between pursued and pursuers. A shocker in the mold of such popular films as "The Omen" and "Carrie," which was a great personal triumph for De Palma in 1976, "THE FURY" also raises the legitimate issue of how far the government should go with mind control measures in defending our country from potential enemies within or abroad. Twentieth Century-Fox presents a Frank Yablans Presentation, "THE FURY," a Brian De Palma Film starring Kirk Douglas, John Cassavetes, Carrie Snodgress, Charles Durning and Amy Irving. Produced by Frank Yablans. Directed by Brian De Palma. Executive Producer Ron Preissman. Screenplay by John Earns based upon his novel. Music by John Williams.
