Much of the filming for Motel Hell took place in the area of northern Los Angeles County known as Canyon Country. A huge, sprawling ranch house was transformed into a motel office with a nearby stable almost magically converted into the motel proper. In addition to a one-day location in suburban Moorpark, California, extensive interior filming was done at Laird International Studios (formerly Culver City Studios). Joe Altadonna served as Art Director with Jim Teegarden as set designer. Other major credits include Tom Del Ruth, director of photography; Bernie Gribble, film editor; and Jerry Jost, sound. The music for Motel Hell ranging from country-western to punk rock. was composed, arranged and conducted by youthful Lance Rubin, who has provided music for five television series. Of special importance to Motel Hell is the work by makeup artist Mane Carter, hair stylist Patricia Buck and the costuming by Bernard A. Pollack and Karen Hudson, particularly in creating the makeup, hair and clothes for a punk rock group, Ivan and the Terribles. Click here for more
