1969 Directed by John Schlesinger
Joe Buck, the Midnight Cowboy (JON VOIGHT) is a good-looking, uneducated Texas youth convinced that he is the salvation of many lonely, love-starved New York women. In New York, friendless and broke, he meets Ratso (DUSTIN HOFFMAN). a sickly, undersized Bronx-born drifter, who first victimizes then teams up with him. As cynical and knowing as Joe is optimistic and naive, Ratso, too, has a dream. Re wants to repudiate his dismal past and start a new life. He voices his hopes only as the wish to go to Florida where a diet of coconut milk and sunshine will restore his health. These two loners join forces to bilk a hostile world which rebuffs them at every turn.
