1972 Richard Roundtree
Shaft in Africa from Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, once again starring Richard Roundtree in his third role as the hard-hitting private detective John Shaft, opened in 1972.
Shaft in Africa finds the rugged crime fighter in Ethiopia, disguised as a native in an attempt to uncover the ringleader of an international slave trading organization.
Produced by Roger Lewis, Shaft in Africa was directed by John Guillermin in Metrocolor from a screenplay by Academy Award winning screenwriter Stirling Silliphant.
Filmed on location in Ethiopia and Spain, the motion picture also stars Frank Finlay, as the vicious head of the slave trading ring, Vonetta McGee as an African princess and Yugoslavian actress Neda Arneric as Fin lay's mistress.
