Black Samson
1970 Connie Strickland
Teaser Storyline for Black Samson Samson (ROCKNE TARKINGTON), a black nightclub owner with a pet lion that lounges around the club, is a strong, powerful and soft-spoken man who has managed to keep the streets in his area free of dope pushers and mob influence. He is having problems, however, with Johnny Nappa (WILLIAM SMITH),nephew of the syndicate boss, who wants to open up Samson's territory, and with Arthur Haven (MIKE PAYNE), a black mobster who uses a mortuary for a front. When Johnny sends an emissary to offer Samson a deal, Samson throws him out with a resounding no. So the dope pusher sends his girl friend Tina (CONNIE STRICKLAND) to work as a dancer in Samson's club. When an ambush of Samson by Johnny's hoods fails, Johnny blames Tina for tipping the plan to Samson and beats her up and hurls her from a car. Samson's girl friend Leslie (CAROL SPEED) pleads with the rival gangster Arthur to help Samson in the battle against Johnny and his

hoods. Arthur wants no part of the impending battle, content to let Johnny and Samson destroy each other so he can pick up the pieces. When Leslie leaves Arthur's office, she is kidnapped by Johnny's men and taken to a warehouse where she is tortured. Tina, in the hospital, tells Samson where Leslie is being held. All of Samson's power and strength are put to test as he employs the ancient Japanese art of kindo to rescue Leslie. With the help of the people on his street, plus Arthur, who has come over to Samson's side, Samson opens up the climactic battle against the underworld forces. The rooftops come alive as people hurl every obtainable object at Johnny and his men. The debris continues to fall until Samson raises his staff. He and Johnny stand alone in the center of the rubble, two gladiators engaged in monumental battle. Samson downs Johnny with his staff, and the war is over. The streets are clean again.
