Why collect movie posters? To most people, movie poster collecting falls into the same category as stamp collecting or coin collecting. What makes movie poster collecting stand out are the history and stories behind many of the items.
Each item is part of an advertising campaign - intended to give the audience a favorable glimpse of the movie and perhaps its stars also.
Most of the posters in this collection were actually used in movie theaters - some have stamps or handwriting on the back which tie them back to specific theaters.
Some of the items displayed herein are rare due to title changes or limited production runs.
This collection was put together with an emphasis on horror, science fiction, and sexploitation; the best long term return on investment seems to be in these genres.
We consider the 60's and 70's the 'best' period for movie memorabilia: press books, lobby cards, 30x40, and one-sheets are standard fare for most big studio movies of that time.
